QUantum Educational ENgineering (QUEEN)
is a free summer mentorship program designed for female-identifying high school students.
OUR MISSION
QUEEN: QUantum Educational ENgineering is a free summer mentorship program for female-identifying high school students, ranging from rising freshmen to rising college freshmen. In collaboration with leading mentors—including professors, researchers, hardware developers, and Ph.D. candidates in Quantum Physics and Quantum Computing—QUEEN offers a comprehensive educational experience.
Our program features:
Individual Mentorship: Students are paired with mentors to work on selected projects.
Online Courses: Weekly classes cover the fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics.
QUEEN Club: Opportunities for students to lead their own Quantum learning clubs with mentor support.
At the end of the program, students receive a QUEEN Certificate of Excellence via email. We are committed to providing transformative education with a focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical applications, positioning QUEEN at the forefront of innovation in quantum science.
What prompted the QUEEN's mission?
In a Quantum camp, I was disheartened to find that less than 10% of my classmates were female-identifying students. While talking to friends and families, I realized that many girls like me might feel dissuaded from studying physics (including quantum mechanics) due to the common perception that it is more difficult for our gender. My experience also highlighted an issue: only around 20% of the leading quantum workforce comprises women. So I am willing to do my part to change this prevailing notion.
QUEEN aims to bridge the gender gap in quantum science by providing resources, mentorship, and opportunities specifically for female-identifying students. Through QUEEN, we hope to empower women to lead and innovate in this transformative field. May we all become the QUEENs of our own lives and passions.
